Hopping Against Homophobia and Transphobia Happening Here...

Thanks for joining me today for the Hop AgainstHomophobia. When I told my friend I was participating in this hop he asked me why? I'm not gay. Well, he's right. I'm just a straight girl trying to make a buck writing a book or two.

But you know what else I am? I'm a human being who believes that other human beings should get the same darn rights as me...whether it is drinking from a water fountain in the middle of the park, voting or getting married. Why should I be able to do something but someone else shouldn't? I'm no better than them...period.

My parents thought this way too—they instilled it in me. My kids feel this way because it was how they were brought up so it is their norm. Wouldn't that be nice if it was everyone's norm?

Funny—it feels so simple in my mind...

So I'm here today to shout out for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia...this hop is just a little thing that I can do, but it makes me feel good inside. Because love and understanding is the way I choose to live.

Now, something else that makes me feel good inside is giving away prizes! So if you wouldn't mind leaving me a cute little comment (or not so cute works too *winks*) and on May 28th I will announce the winners here on my blog. So don't forget to swing on by again to see if you are the lucky one—well the lucky two! You each can choose any one book from my backlist and it will be yours...*big smiles*

Oh—and there are lots more blogs and prizes to be had...so make sure you hop around...well because this is a blog hop now isn't it? lol

  4. It's funny, I was raised by a grandmother who was very much a product of her era and heritage (born turn of the century in a coal mining town in IL, to Russian immigrants) but for all that, and all her own prejudices, she still managed to instill in me a respect other people--even though she didn't understand how I can like women as well as men or even why two people with different skin colors could get married. I will always be grateful to her for making sure I was open minded enough to accept other people for who they are inside, not what they look like outside.

  5. Hi Havan,
I'm like you, not gay just a human being except my child is transgender so stuff like this really, really means a lot to me probably more than if it was me because I need him to be living in the best world possible a place where him being him is ok because he's my hero. He's the most amazing person I've ever met and I need him to live in a world that deserves him and all the other special people out there like him. So thank you for helping to work towards creating that world.

  13. Why is peace, love, and understanding so hard? People cling to their privilege, and don't care who they step on. They have to give it eventually, though!

  18. I was the rebel in my family. I became a "horrors" democrat and fought for women's rights which has morphed into human rights. This has been passed on to my children and through them to my grandchildren. Thanks for hopping and sharing.
