Viki Lyn in the spot light…
Where do you find your inspiration?
I think our brain is like a giant hard drive. We store all sorts of information over the years. As I mull over a story, my hard drive searches my memory banks for ideas.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Around 2005 I wrote a couple of historical romances. I decided to submit them to an ebook publisher and to my surprise they were accepted. Creativity is important to me. If I can’t paint, I write. If I can’t write, I paint. I don’t crank out a lot of books per year because half the time I’m learning a new art technique, traveling and visiting family and friends. Writing is just one of my passions and I will keep writing stories as long as readers enjoy them.

Do your characters become like real people to you?
Oh yeah, they live in my head until the book is published. Then afterwards, they pop up and demand to be heard again. I love all my characters, even the ones that are not as lovable. There have been characters my readers don’t like – Corbin comes to mind from Fighting Chance. He can be curt and prickly on the outside, but he has a good heart and will do anything for those he loves.

If you weren’t a writer, what else would you like to have done?
I’m an artist, teacher and I have owned my own business, worked in finance in Silicon Valley, and had an accounting position at Arizona State University. And that’s just some of my jobs I’ve had over the years.

What do you want your tombstone to say?
She lived well and followed her passions despite her failures.

Blurb:
When psychic Nate Coleman dreams of a murder, he knows it’s a premonition. He can’t forget the image of his ex-lover with a bullet hole through his chest. Nate has no choice but to confront Will and face the skeptical scientist’s ridicule.
Dr. William Ryner doesn’t believe in what he can’t prove. When Nate comes back into his life, it’s not to rekindle their love, but to bring up more of that mumbo jumbo that split them apart.
Despite Will’s refusal to listen, Nate can’t ignore the premonition. And, Will can’t ignore Nate. Before the gunman strikes, Will must either trust in Nate’s ability or rely only on the facts, but if he does the latter, pride could be the death of him.
NOTE: This story is a do-over, and has almost tripled in size! This book was previously published but has been revised and edited in this edition.

Excerpt:
The usually impeccable Dr. Ryner looked disheveled with his tie askew and wrinkled suit. Will liked order in all things, including his closet. Will collected ties by the dozen. He probably had hundreds sorted by color and pattern. Nate had three ties total. His smile deepened when he thought how they were so different in style but how much they had connected mentally and physically. Nate was the psychic one, but Will could read him better than any man alive. Or maybe the reason was because Nate had allowed Will into his heart.
“First, let’s get this off you.” Nate tugged at the jacket sleeve.
Will turned slightly toward Nate, and their noses bumped.
The light touch caused an incredible ache in Nate. His feelings for Will hadn’t diminished over time. That wasn’t how it was supposed to be. Time healed. That was the advice he received from his friends. Over and over. But fuck, then why were his palms sweating? His heart tearing?
Desperate to play down the effect Will had on him, Nate jerked back, rubbing his nose.
“You pack a mean punch,” he joked.
For one long minute, Will stared at him. Not saying a word, he took off his jacket and handed it to Nate. Then he sprawled lengthwise on the couch, turning his back, shutting Nate out.
No way would Nate accept being ignored.

  1. Good morning Haven Fellows! Thank you so much for hosting me and kicking off Perceived Love's blog tour. :) Late last night I heard a 'whoosh' and my bed and ground shook. I wondered what the heck? Turns out it was an earthquake - 3 small quakes hit Arizona! Go figure...and I'm from California where I expect them! Weird. :) I'll check back for comments and questions. :) Have a great day.

  3. Hi Emily. I was so thrilled to expand this short story. It's still a novella more than doubled in size. I added some new chapters and sex scenes too. ;o And also added a few secondary characters that could have their own future stories. Thanks for the comment!
