So…in honor of my first
solo release coming out in May, Emery's Ritches…I've decided to celebrate by talking to some very
talented authors about their first solo release! *giggles* You see…it isn't all
about me all the time…but I do love weaseling my way into the action most of
the time…hehe
Today I've wrangled a
front row seat with the extremely talented and may I say ultra hot *coughs and
talks quickly* and my superdy duper muse *coughs and giggles* Lee Brazil. He's
gonna answer a few questions about his first published book, Beautiful
Silence…and after that we get a yummy taste straight from the
source…*sighs happily* oh yeah, life is good! *winks*
*scoots real real
close to my muse* Hiya handsome *bumps shoulders*…thanks for allowing me to
drag you over to my blog today, Lee…*smiles* Thanks
for asking me. But you know... virginity was such a long time ago... and I
wasn't sure exactly what you meant by that, there are so many mile stone
moments... I knew this set of handcuffs would be beneficial
*jingles cuffs linked from my wrist to Lee's and bats my eyelashes all innocent
like* *chuckles*
yeah...they've been indispensible, haven't they?
So, let's start this off
with the basics…you popped your cherry with Beautiful Silence…*giggles*…tell
us about your first ever release…*blushes*…okay—it was your idea to title this
series Like
a Virgin…but I mean book release…*heads desk*
My
first release was a self published title called A Beautiful Silence. It's a
novella length story about an older man who's decided it's time for him to
change the way he lives. He wants to settle down, focus on family. His
boyfriend though, is a lot younger, and Mack just can't accept that age isn't a
factor in their relationship. He's in a word, insecure about his place in Lex's
life.
Why did you self-publish
it and do you stand firm behind that decision?
I
had two stories finished. I wanted to test both the self publishing market and
the "traditional" e-publishing world. I wanted to learn how both
markets functioned, analyze the pros and cons of each before I decided how my
future work would go. I do stand behind that decision. I learned a lot about
both markets, and I will be self publishing more titles in the future.
*sighs and lays head on
your shoulder*…have I ever mentioned that I love when you go all teach-like…*straightens
and blushes*…oh…um…next question…
I
always have more than one work in progress, you know me well. I also had Loving
Jacob. They were finished at the same time. I sent Jacob off to a publisher via
the regular submission process. I headed to Amazon with Silence. The sub
process was time consuming, and the self pub process was not. J
*glances around and
tries to shush my muse* You realize that if people find out that you made them
wait this long for Loving Jacob there will be a rebellion? *giggles*
Okay…about me for a
second *big smiles*…I'm personally going through some withdrawal anxieties with
my boys…um…which you already know since you're the lucky person I babble to all
the time *blushes*…did you have any withdrawal pains when you sent your boys
out there in the big bad world?
Yes.
So I distracted myself by starting work on the Truth or Dare series.
*eyes Havan pointedly* *coughs*
*looks around and behind
me*…um…what? *bites lip*
Really?
You're gonna play me like that? Fine...I think you should finish the Trust
series and then get back to working on those Djinn stories while you're being
anxious.
*gulps and looks down at
notes*…Looking back—now that you have more experience under your belt—would you
change anything about Beautiful Silence or your way of
handling its release?
I'd
actually change the way it's written. Currently, it's only told from
Mack's pov. I'd add in Lex's perspective. I still haven't given up on
writing a sequel from his pov.
Oh oh oh…so you do plan
to revisit them soon?
Revisit,
yes. Soon? Probably not. Maybe this year.
*nudges you* Maybe?????
*cocks eyebrow*…oh we'll see about that…hehe
Now…Lex has a very
interesting toy chest…care to tell us a few of his faves in there?
Lex
can find amusement in the simplest of things... a hair tie, a feather, but the
"toy" he likes most is silence. In the quiet, he can focus his
lover's attention on every sensation.
If you had to turn your virgin
experience of publishing your book into an erotic novel what would you title
it?
Playing
Around
What color would you
label your first foray in publishing your book and why?
Green.
Green is the color of new things, of growing things, and publishing was both
new and a growth experience for me.
Now…just because I like
to throw things at you, Lee…*winks*…here are a few quickies for us about your
boys…answer can only be Mack or Lex…
Most likely to get down
and dirty in public…*snort* Mack- you'd be lucky to get Lex out in public at all
Most likely to wear a fedora
and rock it…Lex- though he'd
probably prefer a more period style
Most likely to eat food
in bed *winks*…Mack
Most likely to be found
barefoot…Lex
Most likely to find a
stray kitten and bring her home…Mack
Most likely to blow off
plans and talk the other into staying in bed all day…Lex
Most likely to have a
sweet tooth…Mack
In a silly battle of
wills…most likely to refrain from…um…pleasuring themselves the longest…Lex
And now for my favorite
part! Lee will tell us about this wonderful book and how we can get our grubby
little paws on it…*winks*
Blurb:
Dr. Mackenzie Taylor has
been happy with his life thus far. He’s got a successful career, a great group
of friends, a terrific home on the California coast and a sexy younger lover.
Mack’s just turned forty-five though, and thinks it's time to settle down and
start the family he’s always wanted. He doesn’t want to spend his weekends
rushing out to his lover’s country hideaway or waiting around for Lex to arrive
in Newport Beach. He doesn’t want to wake up alone, eat takeout meals or drink with
his friends in local bars.
Mack’s boyfriend of two years is a reclusive writer of growing fame nearly twenty years his junior. While Mack has had his chance to sow his wild oats and be the life of the party, Lex has stayed close to home and lived a pretty sedate lifestyle despite his glamorous career and eccentric wardrobe. A long distance relationship has suited both men for the past two years, but things are changing, and they aren’t managing to spend much time together. The distance between them now seems to be more than physical, and Mack is discovering a new insecurity that has come with age, while Lex is discovering that success in his chosen career comes at a price.
